OMEA Large Group Adjudication March 9 & 10, 2012
OMEA Large Group Adjudicated Events (sometimes referred to as "contest") is a performance competition for band and choir in which each group performs three selections for a panel of three judges. Each group also sight reads a new piece of music for a fourth judge, although the sight reading takes place in a different room from the performance area and is closed to the public. Each judge provides written and recorded critiques of the performance, and then issues a rating on a scale of I to V, with "I" being the highest rating. The ratings from all four judges are brought together to form one composite rating. (i.e. I, II, I, I = composite I) Any ensemble receiving the composite rating of "I" is eligible for state adjudicated events on April 27th or 28th. At state AE, each group would then need to replace one of their selections with a new piece, and the entire process is repeated with much more strict adjudication.
In OMEA Adjudicated Events, each ensemble is evaluated on their own performance rather than being compared to other groups. This is not a "first place," "second place" type event, and it is not possible to "win" the competition. Any group could advance to state and receive a "I" rating there, depending on the level of their performance and skills.
The event is free and open to the public.Use of electronic devices or recording is strictly prohibited!

All supporters are welcome to attend the performance at 11:30 am in the Midpark High School Gymnasium.
- Students may bring money if they wish to purchase food at the concession stand after they sing.
- If your student wishes to ride home with a parent after the event, they MUST have a signed permission slip (sent home with students last week) signed and turned in to Ms. Campbell no later than Wednesday, March 7.
- After the sight-reading portion of the event, parents are required to sign out their student before leaving Midpark.
